The Keep Your Distance Bug Vacuum.

This cordless insect vacuum quickly captures bugs from up to 2' away. Flies, bees spiders and other insects are suctioned by a 22,400 rpm motor, sending the insect through a one-way valve in the extension tube to an electric grid in the handle that instantly kills the pest. The extension tube removes to place dead bugs in the garbage, shutting off the electric grid in the process to protect curious fingers from electrical shocks or burns. Without the use of toxic chemicals or vacuum bags that can serve as breeding grounds, this handheld device has an extendable nozzle to reach insects in high ceilings, while the flexible rubber suction cup compresses to fit in tight corners, and the lightweight plastic design allows complete control while chasing flying insects. Includes a charging stand that plugs into AC and the unit has a LED charge indicator light to monitor battery life.

Hatfield My wife and I ordered 2 of these for our heavily mosquito infested property in South Carolina. We put in the batteries and commenced the war against the flying vampires. We decided to grill some chicken and eat on the patio, and before we were finished with our salad we had dozens of the little blood suckers flying all around us. We then went inside the house, leaving The Vortex insect traps running on the table, in the dark, for 2 hours. They caught exactly 1 mosquito. 1! Lovitt There may be other bug vacuums more powerful than the "Bug Wand." I can't recommend this particular product because it doesn't perform as advertised. We tried it out on Asian beetles (the ones that look like lady bugs but bite people), spiders, a house fly, and a few gnats (no-see-ums). It worked for the gnats, but we had to knock the rest of the bugs into the tube because they clung to the wall, ceiling, or web and refused to be sucked in. I don't think I'd go after a bee or wasp with the Bug Wand, as I wouldn't want them to lose their temper while I was trying to knock them into a 1.5 inch diameter, two-foot long tube. The directions on the Bug Wand box end with, "So the next time you discover creepy crawlers in your home, just wave a (Bug) Wand and make them disappear!" Yeah, right. 11 of 12 people found the following review helpful. great bug-catcher By Judith Milgram This doesn't seem like it would do much with it's wimpy vacuum, but it's very effective on the crawling sort of bug because they don't see the tube. Put it facing them head-on if possible, turn it on and you'll likely catch the spider or silverfish, etc. Even some less jumpy crickets. Haven't tried it with flies, doesn't seem likely to work. What I especially like is that captured insects aren't hurt and can be released outside unlike with the much more expensive similar bug vacs. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. The original BugBuster No-Harm Spider and Bug Vacuum is an insect vacuum that sucks up bugs, insects, spiders, flies, stinging insects, bees and more! Simply wait for the insect to settle, then press the button to start the motor while carefully approaching the bug. When close enough, carefully hold the tube over the insect to gently suck it into the catch tube. While the motor is on, turn the BugBuster upright so the open end is pointing upwards preventing the insect from crawling out. Replace the cap at the end of the tube. Then take the insect outside and safely release at arm's length. Bugbuster Battery Operated Insect VacuumThe BugBuster is great for trapping and removing spiders, bees and other unwanted guests. Kochel The other reviewer gave it a great review, but perhaps I got a bad one, because it doesn't suck. I find I have to pretty much scoop the bugs up with it, unless they are something light with big wings (like a moth), in which case it will suck them up. I have seen ones that work well, but I don't know if the brand and/or make are different with those one. However, while some maybe great, the one I got wasn't, too bad. I hope that Dyson company makes on soon and they use the power at their disposal to make a super powerful one that can suck up a nest of killer bees, or a fly across the room, but until then I live in fear of both. Sam 17 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Humane bug removal By K A great way to escort unwanted bugs out of the house. The suction is mild and the opening is small for some bugs, but for 99% of those I encounter, this is the perfect way to return them to the great outdoors. 16 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Returned for a refund By M. Vernon The Bug Buster arrived without the cap for the insect tube, the battery connection is flimsy, and the motor runs for less than one second. Not a lot of quality control. To return it, I must pay postage, and insure it, after emailing for a special return number. So I bought another brand from another manufacturer. Catches MORE than pesky mosquitoes... read on: By Madam H Recently purchased three of these, and tested one right away. I found that it caught many more BENEFICIAL insects than mosquitoes. Not really eager to box up and return-ship the three units, I removed the light bulbs from the test trap and ran it again for a few days. The difference was phenomenal! Not a single good bug, but only the pesky mosquitoes. Have since installed the remaining two traps, and am in the process of searching for additionals to place around the yard, so I can discontinue using our two Mosquito Magnets. The only slightly-misleading comment in the description of this item is that it can be used indoors and outside. If used outdoors, it MUST be in a covered area, such as a porch, under house eaves, etc. to keep out rain. The description should note this. However, I am extremely pleased with the performance thus far of this product, and will be looking to sell our current two Mosquito Magnets when I find enough replacements for them. Dyna Trap units are much less expensive to run, and much less maintenance as well. Now I will just have to construct some sort of waterproof shelters for the Dyna Traps, so I can place them remotely around the yard. Would recommend this product highly, to anyone like me who cannot go outside without being attacked by the bloodthirsty little pests! 85 of 85 people found the following review helpful. Seems to be working great By Geoffrey Janes Purchased one of these to try and get ahold of the mosquito population in our back yard. Have been running it for a few days now, and its already filled with quite a few mosquitoes and other gnats. Quiet operation. Only downside I can see is that the bugs are trapped in the unit but are alive until they starve or dehydrate. So emptying the unit will be an interesting task while trying not to let any of them go again. I'll update this posting if I have any problems with the unit, or if it becomes less successful as the season goes on. But so far it seems to be working very well, and costs significantly less per month than running the other units that require octenol or propane to work. I can live with $1/month in electricity. -------- Update ----------- The unit is still plugging away. I've had to take it apart a couple of times over the last few years to clean gunk out of the motor, but otherwise it continues to work. As for its successful use as a trap for mosquitos... I find it catching many more moths and flies than anything else. In the spring it always catches mosquitos by the pound. But once early summer starts the mosquitos seem to either get smarter, or emerge as a different breed that aren't attacked to the unit as much. It still catches mosquitos, but not nearly to the extent as it does first thing in the spring. Cleaning the trap is somewhat interesting. The trap basically holds the bugs until they die of what I would assume is dehydration. However, its continually catching new insects, so cleaning it can be tricky. I've found the best way to clean it is to have a garbage back next to the unit, release the bottom "insect holder" without turning the unit off, and dump the insect holder into the bag swiftly, then tying the bag shut immediately so the bugs that are still alive won't escape. If you're quick, nothing, or very few should escape. And, I tend to be quite lazy about cleaning it. It only fills to the point where it requires me to clean it every couple of weeks. So to sum up, its a great insect catcher. But don't believe it'll catch all of your summer blood-sucking problems. It appears to work *ok*, but I still have to wear insect repellent when I'm outside. 53 of 55 people found the following review helpful. No unpleasant handling or squashing. No poisonous sprays. 38"Long, 2 lbs. Battery Free

Most helpful customer reviews 28 of 28 people found the following review helpful. This Works! By cummings This gadget works better than I expected. The sucking power is great and the bugs are released structurally unharmed (I can't speak to the emotional trauma of being sucked into a tube). I've captured bees, spiders etc. and let them go unharmed. I've had the minimal-sucking, battery powered bug vacumns previously and this gadget is head and shoulders above them and I don't worry about whether the 9-volt battery has kept its charge (since the last time I caught something)since it doesn't use batteries. 30 of 31 people found the following review helpful. Worth Its Weight in Gold. By W. Phillips This is the most useful product I've ever purchased. I use it probably 10-15 times a day, because we live in the woods where there are a lot of bugs. You can even catch flies with it with a little practice, but I use it mostly for ladybugs and stinkbugs. It's very satisfying to use as well, and keeps bug stains off your walls. If you're a humane bug enthusiast, you can even set them free outside! :) 37 of 41 people found the following review helpful. If the bug is large enough to frighten you, the Bugzooka won't work! By Follow the Sun I've pretty much said all there is to say in my title. I don't mind catching tiny bugs in a tissue or under a glass. However, I'm afraid to get close to larger bugs, such as the roaches/palmetto bugs that are so common in my area of Texas, as well as larger stinging bugs like wasps. Based on the reviews I read, I thought the Bugzooka would be a great way to remove these bugs from my house without killing them. Wrong. I've tried to Bugzooka repeatedly on a large variety of bugs. If it's a teensy bug that weighs no more than a piece of fluff, the Bugzooka sucks it right up. I have successfully caught bees with the Bugzooka. Wasps? I finally caught one after twenty minutes of trying--once the wasp grew weak from trying to escape--before that, the suction simply was not strong enough to pull it in. If I wanted to battle the wasp into submission before catching it, I could have used a fly swatter. The main reason I bought the Bugzooka is for the palmetto bugs that routinely find their way into our house. Was the Bugzooka the savior I had hoped for? Absolutely not. If I try it on a live one, the bug is simply frightened by the pathetic puff of air and runs away. I can't even use the Bugzooka to pick up an injured palmetto bug that can not physically escape--even if I put the tube right up to it, the suction simply is not strong enough to pick the bug up. I wish I could give the Bugzooka more than one star, but at the end of the day, a glass is cheaper--and you'll probably end up using one, anyway. See all 90 customer reviews...

It comes charged, and it zaps them quick. I banged the racket once or twice in my swinging it around (the bulb wasn't working before then), but it is of strong enough construction that it just keeps on zapping. I highly recommend it! Update: Okay-it pays to read. The light was always working...when I turned it on! Best Bug Zapper By Joey After trying other bug zappers, I have to say that this one is by far the best. I bought a few others that just didn't work as well because they wouldn't hold a charge or they were just too fragile and made of crappy plastic. They shattered and broke easily if you accidentally whacked a chair or something at the end of your swing. This one is also plastic, but much more durable. Also this one only requires the press of one button while some of the others require you to press two. I plan on purchasing a few more rackets for the upcoming season so that my friends can zap some bugs too. It seems everyone fights over this thing when they come over! It's definitely fun to use! 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. No More Batteries, Brilliant! By Monica NO MORE BATTERIES! YES! Don't get me wrong, it's still made of plastic and like other plastic things you don't want to drop it or bash a table with it. But the plastic is durable. No problems yet. My 8 year old loves it and he'll spend hours killing mosquitos and bugs (except honey bees) with it. Great fun for them! Would like to see an expedited shipping option but it still got here within a week. I highly recommend it! See all 66 customer reviews...

This product is also sold under different entries on Amazon and the noted reviews there suggest the same thing. The bulb will begin to darken, flicker, etc. and cannot be easily replaced. Overall, this will kill insects but the lifespan of the bulb makes it utter garbage. Buy something else. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Zapped by the Zapper.. By Richard S. Lodato I have had this zapper 4 a month now. My first impressions were good as far as it looked in my home as I use it for indoors. Then I realized it didn't work until it was fully charged and you couldn't keep it plugged in to use it so every 10 hr's or so you needed to disconnect it to recharge. Inconvenient. It worked quite well zapping the bugs until the last week. It just doesn't have enough power to zap the bugs anymore. So I paid over $30.00 4 two and a half weeks of use. Most of these things if not all are cheaply made in China. Nough said! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. bug zapper w By Clara P. Farrell I like this zapper.. I have been getting flies through my pet doors as many as 6 or 7 a day. This seems to be getting rid of most if not all of them. The constant plugging in and setting up is anoying though. I wish it was just a plug in model. However, size and style is practically perfect. See all 4 customer reviews...

I have had it for a month now and not a single zap. Not even at night when it is the only light source. There is also no way to clean dead bugs out of the unit but this is ok because it is no more than a night light. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. OK for medium and small bugs in the right place By Richard M Estel I bought this for my elderly mother, who lives right at the edge of a tiny town, and has a parade of bugs across the living room all summer. The unit is a bit heavy for a person with declining hand strength, and the handle is a bit too thick. It would be better if it had some type of grip where you put your hand through an opening. It works OK for small and medium size bugs on the floor or wall. Mother has lots of cellar spiders, and it's hard to capture them, because they build webs where the wall meets the ceiling. The webs also get into the unit. She also had an attack of ants, but again, they tend to make their trail in hard to get at places. They also invaded the kitchen counter, but it's awkward to use the unit at that height. The big problem is that it does not kill larger bugs. I left the unit with her for a week, and she picked up a black widow. When I opened the unit, the spider was alive and well, and had made an egg sac. I tried it on some large bugs that invade my home each summer - so-called "water bugs," but I think they're a member of the cockroach family. It picks them up fine, but does not kill them. So analyze your needs before you buy. If most of your bugs are on the floor, and you don't care if the unit kills them or not, it should be OK. Also consider your hand strength and ability to grip the fairly fat, tapered handle. 164 of 171 people found the following review helpful. I hate spiders By JC_WA I hate spiders. If I see one inside, I can't let it leave it my sight without killing it. People tell me to catch them and let them go outside. That makes no sense to me - they always come back. I didn't have much hope for this but thought I'd give it a try. So far I've encountered 3 spiders over the past 2 months - 2 fairly large spiders, and one small one. Each time the bug vacuum easily sucked the spiders up and - this is the best part - electrocuted them. Two of the spiders were sucked in and dead within about 2 seconds. The other kind of hung around on the wall for a few seconds with no way to get away, then violently flew into the vacuum and was shocked to death. If you turn the vacuum on and off a few quick times after the bug's been sucked in (and likely already dead), you'll see little sparks shoot off the bug's carcass. It's easy to use and there's no splatters left on the wall. Don't listen to anyone who tells you spiders are our friends. That's what they want us to think. They all need to die, and this is the perfect weapon. I'm doing my part - what about you? 77 of 79 people found the following review helpful. I am embarrassed that I bought it! By waynedoc I bought this bug vacuum with low expectations; it is even worse than I expected. We had hoped to use it for the occasional stink bug. It is bulky with a massive charger. Its vacuum power is best described as a gentle breeze. The best way to get the bug in the device is to kill the bug using another device, pick up the bug and drop it in the bug vacuum hole. I have not written an online product review on Amazon before; this product is so bad I felt compelled to warn others! See all 147 customer reviews...

EMERSON BUG ZAPPER By SilentWarriorBear This unit [Emerson Indoor/Outdoor Cordless Rechargeable Bug Zapper] sucks big time ...When it worked it did the job very well ... The light started flickering very shortly after I received it then burned out ... It cannot be replaced ... Oh by the way CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID THEY WOULD ''BE SENDING A NEW UNIT'' but I never received it ... This only compounds shoddy equipment by a lying customer service ... My recommendation is to stay away and look at plug-in-the-wall units that you can replace the light (source) ... DON'T BUY THIS UNIT !!!! ... IF YOU BUY IT YOU'LL BE SORRY !!!!! 24 of 26 people found the following review helpful. The problem with these zappers is new bulbs are TCLP compliant and don't attract bugs anymore By WPL This Emerson zapper looks (from the picture) just like the old Sunbeam zapper. I've had a couple of the Sunbeam zappers for years. They worked better than anything else of that size in the house. I kept them on all the time because they catch little bugs that you don't know are there. I would clean the dead bugs off the wires every day, usually 5 to 10 little bugs a day. These lights were very valuable in alerting me to infestations of little, tiny beetles. One day I'd see a couple of the tiny beetles caught in the light, and then the next day a few more, next day more... Then I realized I must have a problem and I'd search around everywhere until I found the source of the infestation. Without the zappers the infestations would have gotten a lot worse before I would have realized that I had a problem. But, on the downside, the bulbs (F4T5/BL) don't last too long, only a few months, AND, the bulbs are a pain to put in or take out of the unit. You have to take the unit apart and mess around with it. Now, the last batch of F4T5/BL replacement bulbs I bought did NOT work in attracting bugs. The only difference I could see in the new bulbs was a little TCLP printed on the bulbs. This means the bulbs are TCLP compliant, which means they are more environmentally friendly (have less toxic elements I suppose), but they don't attract bugs anymore. With the old bulbs I used to have to clean the bug zappers every day and with the new bulbs the zappers don't need to be cleaned for weeks. I discussed this problem with my supplier and he said that mine was the only complaint he had and that these were very popular bulbs and he sold a lot of them, especially for nail drying, and if there was a problem that he would have heard about it fast. But they don't work for me. I wonder if all manufacturers are being forced to move to TCLP Compliant bulbs? If the bulbs don't attract bugs then these zappers can't work. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Alright but not worth the money By justme The bug zapper worked for about a day and then just didn't charge right. Contacted the company and they were pretty responsive as they arranged a switch and actually sent me 2 in its place. Since then, one of the chargers has failed to work. The product actually works on small flying insects but we were still getting eaten alive in the backyard with the zappers right near us. See all 25 customer reviews...
